There are currently 3 types of products on the market to protect the running generators against rain, snow in storm weather:
- Generator covers for the running generator - they have the top steel frame sitting on the top frame of the generator, the side fabric covers are hanged down from the top steel frame. While this may be the cheapest option, since the side fabric covers are free handing from their top edge, so the side cover may swing or flip in storm by strong wind, causing the fabric covers to melt if they touch the muffler of hot running generator.
- Generator Tent for the running generator - Like the name says, it is a dome shaped tent built over the top of the generator to protect it again rain or snow, it normally does not protect the generator from the 4 side.
- Generator Shed for both the running generator and also the generator in storage - it is a hard shaped shed built on the all around steel frame with fabric covers locked to the steel frame on all edges so they will not swing or flip in wind. Also since it covers the generator on both the top and 4 side, you can store and run the generator at the same outdoor location without the need to moving or set up each time. Since it has all around steel frame to wrap the generator inside the frame, so it is much heavier, normally 2 - 3 time the weight of the generator covers or tent design.
